Online betting in Ontario will become legal on April 4, 2022, when the gambling laws in the state change and open bettors to a world of option.
If you reside in Ontario and have longed to be able to place bets via sportsbooks or enjoy the modern world offered by leading online casinos, your wait is over.
That's because on April 4 the state goes live and makes online gambling via approved betting sites and casinos legal.
Previously, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation was the only corporation offering such services.
As of April 4, this will no longer be the case with some of the world's most popular sportsbooks and casinos becoming available for Ontario-based customers.
Bookmakers have been able to apply for Ontario gambling licences from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) ahead of the April launch and a number of secured the right to open their online doors to new customers.
Among the sportsbooks and operators to have secured a slice of what is predicted to be a significant new market are 888 Sport, Caesars, PointsBet Bet Rivers, theScoreBet and Rivalry.
Unibet and BetMGM have also made moves to enter the Ontario online betting space, although are yet to be officially approved for licences.
More recently WSOP.ca, a dedicated poker room brought to you by leading global brand GGPoker, has also received their licence to accept customers legally.
To bet online in Ontario, you will need to be 19 years old and a member of one of the licencd sportsbooks or casinos.
You will still able to bet via the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp venues at Caesars Windsor, Casino Niagara, Casino Woodbine, Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie and Pickering Casino Resort or at OLG.ca.
